Cemetery The first soldier to die
In the RK cemetery parish 't Hof, on the Hulsakker in Bergeijk rests Johan Jansen. He was the first soldier from the village to die fighting the German invasion near Sint-Oedenrode on 11 May 1940 at the age of 33. The helmet of the Dutch army marks his grave as a tribute to Johan's bravery. Among his comrades, he was known as the soldier who waited for nothing.
Several catering establishments can be found in the centre of Bergeijk. Right next to the church is Streekrestaurant de Hofkaemer
