|

A charming route through the countryside around Vessem, where history and contemplation come together. You’ll pass de Jacobushoeve and the Kafarnaüm Pilgrims’ Farm, as well as the Bolle Akkers – places that have been welcoming pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela for centuries. The peaceful fields and rural paths make this an ideal walk to catch your breath.

Fun fact: Every year, more than 40,000 people visit de Jacobushoeve – a surprisingly international spot in a small village in Brabant.

A ‘bolle akker’ refers to a historic agricultural landscape (esgronden) formed by centuries of fertilisation with sod and ploughing in a single direction all round, which resulted in a rounded shape, often situated on high sandy soils.
