"The ei looks technological, which refers to the atmosphere and knowledge in this corner of Brabant," explains Arnhem-based artist Marcel Swink. The tree refers to the braided hedges next to the art route. The hedges have been planted but have yet to grow. When they are big enough in three to five years, they will be braided. To learn more about the region, Smink visited Kempenmuseum De Acht Zaligheden. This is how he came up with the idea of connecting the poor sandy soils with cattle farming. The plateau represents the sandy soils and the ei represents cattle farming.
