This site was the site of a camp more than 10,000 years ago. People lived here who lived by hunting. And that was no mean feat. These kinds of small stream valleys were excellent habitats for these hunter-gatherers. There was plenty of drinking water and fish. Moreover, the fresh water of the Kleine Beerze attracted deer, aurochs, wild boar and roe deer on a daily basis. So the game simply came to the hunters!
Hundreds of flints and other remains have been found at this site. This is how we know that hunter-gatherers lived here. Incidentally, these people only lived here for part of the year, depending on the season. Was there no more food to be found in a place? Then they moved on.
