De Gloeiige - The story of the cursed landlord of Eersel

Here in the Brabant village of Eersel, some two hundred years ago, people did not have much money. Yet they were happy and content. Except for one man. He was alone. Without wife, children and friends. This was not surprising either. For this man had only one dream: to become rich... In the Kempen region, friends and family liked to get together in the evening. Then they would tell each other scary stories. Especially the story of the 'Gloeiige' was liked to be told. This burning ghostly apparition popped up all over the area. Here he left his traces, including blackened footprints that can still be found everywhere.... Once the Gloeiige was a stately squire of Eersel. But because of his greed, a curse now rests on him. Find out why the Gloeiige was cursed. And where you can bump into him....

A vast moorland where the Gloeiige committed his greatest crime. He robbed a poor weaver and left him unconscious on the moor. Still the Gloeiige roams around here, who knows, you might come across him on your route.

Weebosch
De Gloeiige figures out that he wants to become landmaster of a large estate. He therefore fiddles with measurements of land around Eersel. More land for the inhabitants of the village of Weebosch in exchange for silver coins.

Boksheide
More land for Weebosch but at the expense of the land of the inhabitants of hamlet Boksheide. They do not trust the measurements and their new landmaster but " The devil always shits on the biggest pile".
