Group excursion: Norbertine Abbey of Postel
A guided tour of the Norbertine Abbey is a unique experience: nine centuries have been filled with activities and events. The monks’ daily lives today also remain fascinating. The abbey is a treasure trove of sights: the magnificent buildings, the Romanesque church dating from 1190, the inner courtyard with the carillon tower, the prelate’s chapel, the world-renowned library, and the herb garden with its restored plague house, all guarantee a varied and interesting tour. In the library’s exhibition room, we are introduced to some ‘gems’ among the books: manuscripts on parchment, incunabula and exceptional prints from the 15th to the 18th centuries. The abbey film, lasting around 15 minutes, a tasting of Postel cheese and a herbal drink round off the experience nicely.
