Rain coming? 8x the best indoor activities with kids

| Isabella Put | |

Is the rain pouring down or is it simply too chilly to romp around outside? No worries! Even if the weather does not cooperate, the kids will not be bored for a moment in (the vicinity of) Eersel. From historical discoveries to fast-paced action: we have listed the best indoor outings in the Kempen for you.

1. Time travel at Museum de Bewogen Jaren

This museum brings history to life with an impressive collection of vehicles, uniforms and utensils. For children, it is an exciting journey of discovery through the '39-'50s, making the stories of their own region tangible. An impressive and educational outing, while the rain ticks against the windows outside.

2. Playing at indoor playgrounds

When the kids really need to expend their energy, an indoor playground is the 'lifesaver'. Come jump at Indoor Trampoline Park You Jump and explore all the challenging attractions, such as the metre-high Jump Tower. Or drop by Bij De Neut, in Westerhoven. A child-friendly restaurant with giant indoor playground, where the kids can have fun in climbing towers, slides and in a cable car. Feeling hungry after all that playing? Then enjoy freshly made pizzas, pastas and pancakes. Or drive a little further to the famous ball pits at Monkey Town or Ballorig in Veldhoven/Eindhoven. Let them climb, clamber and slide while you enjoy a well-earned cup of coffee.

3. Swimming at SterrenStrand TerSpegelt

For a tropical feel, you don't have to leave the Kempen. Whether you want to come and play for a day or come on holiday, at TerSpegelt in Eersel you can enjoy playing in the indoor playground. In and outside Brabant, this indoor playground is better known as SterrenStrand. It is a place where you can play indoors, feel the sun on your face and splash about with water and sand. SterrenStrand is part of Recreatiepark TerSpegelt. Or imagine yourself in a different climate at Aqua Mundo in De Kempervennen (Westerhoven). With the spectacular looping slide, the wild water rapids and the snorkelling pool among the fish, water fun is guaranteed here. Landal Het Vennenbos in Hapert is also highly recommended for a day of subtropical swimming.

4. Baking and tasting at the artisanal bakery

Did you know that the Kempen is known for its regional products? In Eersel and the surrounding area, there are several bakeries and farm shops that sometimes host workshops, or where you can simply see how the craft works. Go on one of our recipe routes, for example, and create the most delicious recipes at home.

6. A magical day at the Efteling

OK, it's an extra 15 minutes' drive, but the Efteling is surprisingly fun even in bad weather. Many major attractions such as Symbolica, Droomvlucht and Fata Morgana are fully covered. And let's be honest: there is something secretly magical about a fairytale forest in the mist. Or discover one of the other theme parks near our beautiful Brabant.

8. Go to the cinema nearby

Want to escape into another world? For the latest children's films, visit the cinemas in the region, such as VUE or Pathé in Eindhoven. Do you prefer something smaller? Then check out the programme of local cultural centres or theatres in the Kempen, such as De Muzenval.
